Introduction to GivingTuesday with Bill Strom

Hi everyone. Bill Strom here from Telecare Crisis and Caring Line in Southern British Columbia. It's that season again, isn't it? Time to consider what we might be getting for others, thinking about how we might do a year end gift to those who are in need. This year Telecare is getting involved with the GivingTuesday.

Have you heard about this? About 80 countries have gotten involved with GivingTuesday. It’s the first Tuesday that comes after us Thanksgiving and Black Friday.  In Canada last year alone, on that day, the 29th, $43.6 million were raised for non-profits and others doing really great work in their community.

We'd like to invite you to listen to a few messages we have here over the next few days, and reflect on the value that Telecare offers as we listen to people who are suffering from mental health issues, from physical issues, from loneliness, depression, and maybe, this Christmas give in a way that you've never given before.

As you help someone have a brighter day and hopefully a longer tomorrow.
