With the COVID 19 Pandemic, some segments of the population have been impacted more than others. Seniors have been particularly hard hit in North America as some of the individuals to contract the virus and die from were in Seniors homes.
Armed with this information Janet Hitchcock, one of Telecare's volunteers thought of the idea for Telecare to reach out and compiled a list of Senior's homes in Abbotsford.
Telecare's Executive Director, Debbie Cazander thought it was a wonderful idea and together they mailed a poster and an accompanying letter to nine homes in Abbotsford to let people know that Telecare's trained volunteers are here to listen and to take calls if people feel the need to talk when they are feeling down or afraid about the COVID-19 Pandemic. Now the idea is to spread this message thoughtout the province of BC.
Many people in general and seniors specifically may be feeling lonely. Telecare is here for the staff members and medical staff too who perhaps need to talk with someone.
